In his opening remarks, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son reviewed Viet Nam’s major achievements in 2021, saying the country basically controlled the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak, gradually shifted to a strategy of living safely with the virus, secured positive economic growth and promoted external relations.
He attributed the encouraging results to clear-sighted leadership of the Party, bold COVID-19 control measures by the Government and the strong determination by Vietnamese people, including those living overseas.
“Especially, at the most difficult and challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the spirit of great national unity was even more strongly promoted,” stressed the Foreign Minister, affirming the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese nation.
